Church Bank, Jarrow NE32 3DY, UK – 0191 424 1585
Jarrow Hall - probably remembered more recently as Bede's World - has a lot going on. Inside the main building is a very informative exhibition about early post Roman Northumberland and the influence of the church in the area. Outside there is an Anglo-Saxon village and the type of farm typical of the time. Lots of goats and laid back pigs. Huge hairy pigs snoring loudly in the shade (it was nearly 30 degrees the day we visited). In the community meeting hall we were given a highly entertaining and informative talk about the lives of the people of that time. All in all there was something on offer for every member of the family.
I really enjoyed my visit here. It is a low key museum but what set it apart are the volunteers. They have come together to keep this place going and consequently it has a real feeling of community. It is also good if you enjoy feeding goats. Excellent for small children.

Very pleasant and children friendly park in the midst of Wallsend hustle bustle. It has plenty of greenery along with children's play park and a outdoor tennis court. A small pond such attracts ducks during the season catches attention if the park's visitors. Wallsend festival and the tulips harvesting are some of the regular events held during summers and many people visit and enjoy then. An outstanding place for all age groups. There is also a bowling club for the elderly people.
Love this park, which was my local for so long. Open meadows and shaded wooded areas plus Wallsend burn running through it. There's also a 'people' end with skateboard park, nicely planted beds, tennis courts, play park and cafe. But I tend to stick to the dog friendly area.
Kings Road South, POST: Richardson Dees Park Lodge, North Road, Wallsend NE28 8RH, UK – 0191 643 7897
Well maintained, green space area, with, trees & woodland, open areas & a nice stream running through. Theirs also plenty of wild life here to look out for, ranging from various birds, ducks, fish, the occasional squirrel & more. Great for dog walks & or family outings. All in all a great outdoor spot close to Wallsend town centre but a world a way & a good escape from all the hussle & bussle a town centre has.
Nice tranquil location with easy access and parking nearby. Close to town centre, making it a welcome retreat. Hilly, with steps, so may not be so great for those who are not fit/mobile. Interesting history.
